Check this out. I called on this, we're not invited. Anyone wanna bet it's the mayor and the commissioners and their "good ol boys" that get these permits?

Plenty of deer on Coast Guard road area... I was told when I called that the hunters had already been selected, and the dates were TBA.

Was their permit approved? I thought I read somewhere that WRC was going to require them (and any other community who applied for a "depredation permit") to participate in the already in place "Urban Archery Program", FIRST, then require the community to show why the "Urban Archery Program" wasn't sufficient before granting a "depredation permit"...
And: Is it normal for the state to allow a community to "assign" permits to individuals of their choosing without a "lottery" process or something similar? If that IS the normal process, then mark me down for $50 on the "good-ol'-boys"!

according to EI Town Hall, yes, they were approved, and that they were not soliciting any hunters, that their choice of persons to hunt have already been chosen.

Just got a bit more info. Only 5 people were chosen, and not by the town council. so, who was in charge of deciding? hmm.. mayor maybe?

man, I live in the trailer park, not Emerald Isle...they're sure not gonna give me a pass to run around up there with a bow. I might rub off on them, and they'll end up selling the mercedes for a hunting truck.
