Dropped a running (well, "lopping") bobcat at 75 yards about 4 Tuesday afternoon! Got a few pics on my phone, but, the longer I have this thing the more I am learning to HATE IT!! No flash, can't figure out how to send pics to my email... Just frustrating!

Got out about 2 again Tuesday afternoon. Fog started to roll in about 3, by 3:30 I couldn't see the bean field 100 yards away anymore and I was getting rained on pretty good. Rain kept coming, but not real hard, just steady. Watched a squirrel for a while; apparently, I wasn't the only one watching him! Out of the corner of my eye, I see this almost invisible form heading towards the squirrel, coming quick and kind of low. I brought the rifle up as I looked towards him, tracked a couple of steps, and popped him. He dropped like a stone! I thought I must've been hit him further forward, maybe a head shot, which I didn't want, but...

It was still early so I let him lie there while I waited for those coyotes from Monday to show up!! Do you know, within 5 minutes of my shot, that stupid squirrel was back!! What a dummy!! I should've let the cat eat first!!

No deer, no coyotes; at sundown, I went and retrieved the cat. Shot was pretty much perfect, nice and low, right where I wanted it; just behind the right leg, took the heart and both lungs, then the far shoulder, right in the ball socket. No wonder he dropped right there; no "engine room" left!

I'll skin him out and salt him down to see if I can get a decent rug out of him. Pretty cat.

I think being prepared was the difference. Instead of relaxing and "assuming" it was a fox I knew about, I was ready for new critters I was NOT going to let walk away!

Sure felt like a good day to me!

Congrats! Post some pictures if you can. Neat story. That would have been cool to see the cat pounce on that squirrel.

Yeah, as it turned out (with that squirrel coming back so quickly) I SHOULD'VE waited and let the cat get him... That would have been cool! But, ya' know, I like squirrel hunting, too, so I probably don't mind a few "idiot" squirrels in the neighborhood!

Trouble with that is that cat would have probably grabbed the squirrel and disappeared into the brush before I could've gotten a crack at him! ...unless I watched him through the scope... grab and "bang"... maybe not; too much thought involved for me!

The only pics I got of him are on my "stupid phone"... (hint: It AIN'T one of those "smart" phones!!); I think what I've figured out I have to do is send them to my wife's phone, then I can send them to my email, blah, blah, blah... Soon.

My 204 blows a decent hole through them. I can't imagine what a 7mm Rem Mag would do...

Would trade a 6 Point any day for a Bob Cat or a Coyote.

mustang: So you know what my .270 did coming out through his left shoulder ball and socket!! The bullet shredded 8 additional little holes coming out of the hide right there, too. Whether bone or lead, I couldn't tell, of course. Definitely messed up the hide there! Too much to sew up, I'd say. Too bad. Pretty cat.

Finally gonna try to get a couple of pics up here. Lousy or not, they're what I've got!

Cat in one hand, phone/camera in the other, and flashlight in my mouth... Could've come out worse!

Next morning; wish I'd done better with the perspective...

I should've taken one of his blown out shoulder, too!

Hindsight: It would've been better to let the system here on the forum resize all three pics, to the required size, more uniform. (I did the middle one manually and left the other two to the system.)

Thats a nice cat. Good Job. Too bad there was too big a hole but I guess thats what happens when you shoot it with a .270! Good story and good cat though!

If you happen to run across another one that you want to get rid of let me know. I am trying to find a cat ( dead or alive) so I can mount my teal I killed last week.

usmcduck85: From the looks of the tracks in the mud today, I think I have more cats out there! That must be the funny sound I've heard a couple of times; I really didn't realize it could be a bobcat 'til today!

I'm going to try to tag one with a .22, if I can, I'll give you a holler. (I love dioramas like you are planning! Sounds cool!)
