Is this poll for the complete ban of all gun sales or just the assault rifles?

The article isn't clear but I think the poll is in error as far as NRA members because I think any sensible gunowner knows he ain't that stupid!

I think the fear is in a total ban on guns...seems to be the "big" one when it comes to the 2nd amendment right. As of now, it's really unfounded. However, the fear of such a thing has really increased gun sales and ammo sales to the point of shortages. There is a circle of thought within the not-so-mainstream, that "if the Government can't get the guns, they'll get the ammo". Sort of an idea that, the 2nd Amendment protects the right to keep and bear arms, but not the right to keep and bear ammunition, if that makes any sense. As of now, from the information that I have gathered, the reason for such shortages, is people buying up ammo and guns as fast as it can be cranked out.

I think that you have to read polls with a very critical eye. It sounds like a very skewed result to me. I am of the opinion that Obama wouldn't dare try to put in place any new gun control legislation because it would be political suicide. On the other hand, if he did try to push such a thing, I'm thinking that it wouldn't get very far any way. The Democrats have control of congress and still can't get a health care bill passed with what they want in it (i.e. single payer option, medicare buy in, etc. etc.)
However, an ammo tax, that does scare me a little.

Shhh...don't say that too loud. They'll hear you and get bright ideas. If nothing else ol Bev Purdue will find a way to tax it within NC.
