A buddy of mine pulled a 50+ pound cat out of the Neuse River right outside of Kinston, NC on a trot line. I saw the pics. It was a monster.

I fish the Neuse Up outside Clayton and have lots of luck on old Catdaddy, My best times are Early Spring and Mid Fall, your Rig Depends on your Bait, I am Partial to hitting the Coast and getting fresh shrimp off the boats as soon as the hit the dock and the keep em cold but not frozen for about 2 days. I Landed one this past Summer On Hwy42 By East Clayton Elem that scaled out at 43.5lbs

Fishin the neuse for Kitty Cats, its almost a must to have a boat, even though I have seen some mean kitties pulled in from the sides. The neuse has a lot of areas that are undercut and backwashed, thats where I try to hit, I have never left the Neuse Disappointed.

We used to put in at the armory in New Bern, go upstream about oh, a mile or so-ish, good creeks on the opposite bank full of cats. Not fair....now I want catfish for dinner.
