a very good friend of mine has been hunting one of my stands for the past week now,off and on,with not much success.personally i had only seen 1 deer out of this set up myself, but there eating the corn good and i figured the moon and weather was playing a big part in why we were not seeing deer in this location.anyway,i could not hunt yesterday and told him he needed to go.well.......i was in my backyard and got the call at 5:05pm.he was all to pieces!!!shaky voice, trembling you know the deal.as he was talking i was hoping it was a 130class 8 pointer or something decent.well, not exactly,it was a 2 year old cow horn and he blew him down!deer was about 30yds from him and he was all shook up and talked about how his heart was pounding and the stand was shaking and how he couldn't hold the gun on him...the"thrill" so to speak.well long story short, the guy is 32-33 years old and this was the third or fourth deer he has ever killed in his life, the first one with any horns.now i know a lot of you are laughing rite about now but hey that was one happy camper yesterday evening and the only way it could have been better is if it would have been a big ole 8-10 point buck,i think if that ever happens i'll probably have to go and get him down out of the tree myself!!

I am not sure how others react, but I react the same way. And while it becomes somewhat easier to hold the firearm a little more still.....those crosshairs are just a bouncin'. Everytime I see a deer, big or small....turkeys or big game animal I get the same emotions. I would bet that everyone in one form/intensity level or anothers heart races, breathing becomes more intense, and labored...with some form of the shakes.

You tell that young man congratulations! Hunting is NOT as easy as it shows on TV unless you have 'canned' hunts. And no one would do thaaat!

As you said...the thrill of the hunt!

thats what he said also!!couldn't keep the crosshairs on him,was shaking, didn't want to blow it!funny thing was he had my h&r 20ga slug gun and it is "heavy",i'm glad he didn't have a "lite"gun he'd probably missed!lol

Congratulations for him and pretty generous of you, too!

I just love it when someone gets that excited.
