I know that most of you folks have heard of the Foxpro brand of e-callers. I wanted to mention that there is another big dog on the block that is the leader of the pack when it comes to volume, operation, and quality of sounds. I'm talking about Wildlife Technologies! For years, these guys have built the cadillac of wireless electronic callers with unmatched sound quality. In fact, when Disney and others in the movie industry need an authentic animal sound, they call on the folks at Wildlife. This is because they have spent extensive time in the field with state of the art recording equipment recording the live animal sounds, not duplicating them with a mouth blown call.
For a while, many hunters avoided buying their product due to the price. They have now modified their lineup to include more compact and less expensive callers with the same quality as the larger callers they built in the past. Even the USDA and Park Service trappers use their callers. There is just no comparison in the quality of the speaker, volume and sound when compared to the smaller FoxPro.

Interesting.
Gentlemen, I have heard this caller and it is indeed crisp and loud. I look forward to seeing it in action.
Couple of questions for you:
1. How much do extra sounds cost and what's the process for getting them downloaded into your caller?
2. What's the battery life like?
3. Does the remote allow you to use presets for your favorite sounds?
I'm always looking for ways to better my odds and may look into it this e-caller.
For those of you that are just starting out or have been doing it for a while the advantage of having an ecaller is that you can get the sound away from you. For example, if I'm hunting some rolling plains or Mountainous areas I like to set the caller on the opposite side of a draw (usually no more than 100 yards away) that way I can see anything trying to sneak to it whether it be up and down the draw or over the ridgeline. It gets the sound away from your scent and movement. Don't get me wrong, I love using hand calls and I still use them occasionally just to mix it up and stay proficient but the advantage of having an e-caller is awesome.
BTW, a lessen learned the hard way: just because you have an e-caller doesn't mean you shouldn't take a hand call to the stand with you. There are several times that I've had the batteries die on me or had some kind of interference in the middle of a stand and the fact that I had my hand call handy meant I was able successfully complete my stand. Keep practicing with your hand call.

Their big caller comes with 55 sounds and can store 1000. Their sounds are pre-loaded on a proprietary SD card in order to prevent the distribution or stealing of their sounds. The card can be sent back to them for additional sounds. However, I can't imagine needing more than 55 sounds. Coyotes and crows are the only legal game that can be called in NC with an E-Caller. Remember that their sounds are live animals recorded in the wild thus the reason for the security. The remote will store favorite pre-sets. A set of NiMh batteries will run this caller for a week of solid hunting.

Some time ago, I made a post regarding my experience with the Wildlife Technology calls compared to the FoxPro brand of E-Callers. I own a WT call and had some first hand experience with the call and the sounds, fuctions, etc. Since that post, I did some research on the FoxPro calls, especially the CS24 from their custom shop. I have carefully studied their sounds and their digital architecture. I also did some additional research on the WT calls. After comparing the lineup of callers from both companies, I must admit that I was mislead and misinformed by what I was told and what was printed about the sounds and quality of the Wildlife callers. A comparison done on their website while impressive, actually compares apples and bananas and is not a true comparison of the two calls used in the example shown in the video. The FoxPro caller used is obviously no match in regards to speaker size and volume when compared to the big PA TOA speaker used in the WT caller, nor is it represented by FoxPro to be. However, after more research, the FoxPro sounds are in fact the better quality of live animal sounds and are true 24 bit recordings. The WT caller sounds although advertised to be 24 bit, are in fact only 16 bit recordings.
The FoxPro sounds when played through their custom shop CS24 caller and coupled with their TX500 remote, equates to what in reality is the best E-Caller in its class made by any manufacturer. I wanted to clarify this point so that no one else is mislead in the wrong direction. I stand corrected on my previous comments regarding the WT callers!

Having owned both a Wildlife Technologies and Foxpro caller I'd like to weigh in on the matter.
The WT is indeed louder and crisper than the Foxpro Fury sized callers but what the WT lacks is ease of use with the remote. The WT remote is nothing more than a small box with a few buttons and no display. Going from the Foxpro Fury, which features the TX-500 remote, to the WT was a difficult transition. When I call I go long periods (5-10 minutes) with the caller on mute and I'm used to looking down at my remote and seeing a visual indication that the remote is on Mute. The reason I say that is because when you have your caller set out 75-100 yards in front of you and you think you hit mute but all you did is turn the volume down low enough that you can't hear it, but all the predators can, that could ruin a stand. I also like being able to scroll through the sounds and pick one and preset the volume all while being on "mute". That way when I unmute the caller I know exactly what sound is playing and at what volume. The TX-500 also features a call timer that can be reset at any time. With the TX-500, I can scroll through all the sounds and actually read the display. The WT remote can't do any of this.
Now with Foxpro's new CS-24 volume and quality of sound is equal to, if not better than, the WT. Now we have the best of both worlds. I can't wait to try out the CS-24 this fall.
Foxpro's customer service is far superior to WT's customer service and to a consumer that is very important.
