In the last month I have been able to stalk up to about 20 yards on deer on 2 different occasions without spooking them. Neither time did I do this on anything that I would consider killing I guess I just did it to see if I could. Anyone else had any experience like this.

I've walked to within 20 steps of them on our pulpwood roads many times with them walking towards me the whole time. Deer do not see as well as some think and as long as you are downwind, their curiosity gets the better of them!

Both times I did this the deer were eatin the soybeans in the field I was at the edge of. I would just wait until their head was down in the beans and move a little. Then when they would pick up their head they would look stright at me and freeze. All I had to do was stay motionless for a moment and they would go back to eating. This went on for about 30 minutes unti I was as close as I thought I could get. Then I would back off just to see if I could get away without spooking them.
