Has anybody else heard about this one? I was told he was dropped this past Monday or Tuesday. Supposedly, 19 points with "palmated" sections on both sides and HUGE brow tines.
Haven't seen any pictures or NEWS stories.

Thanks for the reply, buckhunter. Bummer for me, I've still got an ancient phone that won't receive pics!
Even if he "grew a bit" by the time I heard about him, it sounds like he's for real!

This was all a haoux. The deer was killed in Ohio. I knew something was fishy when I saw the horns. Deer like that are commonly found in Ky and Oh. He tried to pass it off for a local deer.
This guy is in big trouble because he brought the deer across state lines. I was also told he shot it with a muzzler loader in bow season.

That deer was killed in Deep Run, and did not weigh 290lbs. It weighed 288lbs. It was killed by a friend of mine during muzzleloader season. I've heard all sorts of things about him being in trouble with the law. Its all a bunch of BS spread around by people who are jealous that they did not kill the deer themselves. Why is it everytime someone takes a nice deer people start accusing them of taking it at night, or bringing it across state lines?

John C.:
I think it's just GREAT to hear you vouch for your friend's deer and straighten us out on this! As you can see, I first heard about this monster of an animal around the middle of October; we've waited for the truth of him 'til now! If you don't know too many more details, why don't you get your friend to join us here and fill us in on "what, where, when", (you know)? I, for one, want to hear it all!
BTW: I don't believe anyone here was accusing your friend of ANY wrongdoing, because no one here had any direct knowledge. Each was only passing on what they had heard, in an effort to answer my question.

The deer was shot on the morning of Oct. 15th(it was the thursday morining in muzzleloader season). with a muzzleloader. JB had gotten several pics of the deer all summer and pretty well had him patterned. When the wind was right, he slipped in and took him at 40yds. He called a friend of his who works for me and was studdering on the phone. He got the deer out of the woods and drove him all over Goldsboro showing him off to everyone. He gutted the deer and wrapped it in a blue tarp surrounded with ice. He deer was huge. A real hog so to speak. After all the BS and lies everyone spread about him he wishes he never shot the deer. The block of woods the deer came out of had dog hunters dropping off every week trying to run another big deer out(I guess more deer are hunted after they die than before). If anyone has any questions about it they'ed be better off to ask the Lenoir County Game warden. He saw it shortly after it was taken. The Ohio story was invented by some of his old hunting buddies that are jealous of him. He does go to OH for a week or two every year bowhunting around the end of October, but this year he was setting up a taxidermy shop, and with the economy like it was/still is the funds weren't there for a trip to Ohio. Besides, Ohios muzzleloader season is much later than when this deer was taken.

Cool story!
Taken on the morning of the 15th? And I started this thread the night of the 16th? Geeze, he was barely cool!!
Trying to make a phone call while standing over that boy? Man, I'd be SPEECHLESS!! Good for him he could talk at all!!
..."(I guess more deer are hunted after they die than before)"... Now, that's funny, right there!! LOL
..."he was setting up a taxidermy shop"... A new taxidermy shop? Well, we're gonna havfta hear more about that! (Not that we have much work for him this year...) And, we are gonna have to SEE more of that guy when he gets him done!
Nice write-up, John C.. Good job. Thanks.
