Just wondering what the resident consensus is? Do you or don't you? What do you use or do you think it really matters?

I had an small discussion with the Admin on the site about what he used. It made all the sense in the world. I am just waiting to get my rubber boots. I haven't been able to find any scent pads for shoes/boots, so thinking of making my own. I did talk with a sales representative yesterday who tried to get me to think of raccoon urine since fox don't climb trees. And since I have a box stand vice ground blind that made sense...then again it may have been a sales pitch to rid themselves of an over abundance of racoon urine. LOL! And so this is the reason I was throwing this out there. I know basically what Admin says, but what says you others on the site?

I have basically used Hunter Specialty products...but at the time I got them it was the only thing in the store. I have had them for years. A lot of what I do is with baking soda to eliminate scent and use a cover scent of Fresh Earth and Pine. I have tried a variety of Doe in Heat stuff, Buck N Rut stuff...but never seemed to make a difference. But hey...I am a hunter and will try whatever 'magic potion' is out there. I would also like to expand this discussion to what other animals you may hunt (since it really is a Predator site): Coyote, Fox, Raccoon, Bear, Deer, or whatever. (Never saw anything for squirrels, rabbits, or birds.LOL!)

What say you?And why do you use what you use and the kind? I have to admit that due to the great forum we have and one of Admin's contributors I really looked close at Primos stuff for this upcoming season.

I use the Primos Silver XP products. I also use the Wildlife Research Red Fox Urine and Earth cover scent.

Does the clothes wash scent control really help? I've been eying it up the past couple times out in the stores. I've yet to bite on it. I have used the Scent Away Sprays in Fresh Earth scent. It seems to work fairly well.

Alien,

I can honestly say that I just never have a problem with busting deer or having them blow at me. I never play the wind when hunting and always see deer. I've deer hunted the same tract of land for 30 years and have never had a season when I couldn't fill my tags. I shower, keep my hunting clothes in a garment back washed with scent killer Silver XP, use Fox urine cover scent, and wear rubber boots. I hunt whichever stand I want to hunt and just never worry with the wind.

I agree with Doghunter. BUT, I do keep baking soda in the bag.

Keeping in line with this...are their bait scents for predators? Of do you just use the calls for coyote? I saw in one post someone had a dead, older deer carcass. I KNOW...with a preemption...NO BAITS for bear. Just wondering what you do? I've seen a coyote on the property next to ours...but never hunted them directly or called for them, etc. But with year around season it does give me an excuse to carry a rifle in the woods (like we need that excuse)

I'm on my way....got my rubber boots and some fox urine scent. Even found something I can use for scent pads when I walk to my stand. Just contemplating if I should use some sort of soap/shampoo.....

Thanks everyone for your votes...

If you use the soap along with the sprays you are one step closer to being "invisable" . I use Scent-Away products, the soap reminds of that slim you used to get in the bubblegum machines due to the smell at first. But once you wash and dry off, the smell is gone. Then once I'm out of the truck I spray down with Fresh Earth scent Scent-Away and place a White Acorn Scent Waffer on my hat.
