At the old walmart in Jacksonville they have bushnell 10 x 50 binos for sale for 20.00. They also come with some compact binos too. I bought a pair and like them. They are a little hefty but I got one of those harness things and they are awesome.

Yeah they are where the hunting stuff used to be. Also if anyone is looking for an entry level muzzle loader they have a CVA Buckhorn for 100.00. It's not the best but for someone trying to figure out if they like it or not. And worse case you got a 100.00 muzzle loader.

Dang that is cheap! I wonder what you can expect for that. I have shot the Wolf before and they aren't bad. I mean it is no TC Arms smokepole but it is plenty accurate for Hunting.

I have a wolf (annivery present) and I love it. It's very accurate but I do want to get the optima, I love the thumb hole stock and the over all feel of it. Other than looking like a pain in the ass to put the primer in, compaired to a break action, I think it would be fine for a starter muzzle loader.

Yup, I agree. Might be nice to shoot Open sights too! That is a nice challenge.

I have a CVA Kodiak 45 cal and have tried just about every combination of powder, primer and bullet and can't get a good enough group to go hunting with.

After messing with the CVA for 2 years I finally broke down and bought a T/C Omega 50 cal. That thing is a shooter! I've had it for two years now and I've killed 3 deer with it.

Huh, in my wolf I shoot a 250 grain shockwave with 100 grains of triple 7 pellets and i can shoot a 2 inch group at 100 yrds.

Mustang,

Does your Kodiak have the Bergera Barrel? If so, they are guaranteed to shoot tight groups or they will replace it. Also, I had a couple of CVA Optima rifles that I had to go up to the 300 gr. Powerbelts and 2, 777 Magnum pellets to shoot like it was supposed. CVA told me that most all of those rifles liked the heavier bullet and they won't pattern with anything other than the powerbelts according to them.

I'm pretty sure this CVA is pre-Bergera. The rifle has already been sent back to the factory once for a barrel replacement and I got the same results with the new barrel. Tried 3 different scopes and mounts on it as well. I still haven't completely given up on it but my "go to" ML is my Omega.

A few years back I was checking out bino's at what is now Big Horn Outfitters in Greenville and check out some Leopolds. I couldn't believe how clear the image was. They were moderately priced (I don't remember exactly how much but they were well over a hundred dollars), but I bought them they are my favorite pair now. They are mid sized, only 6X30, but you can look through them for hours with no eye strain (actually, they just feel that way. I've never looked through anything for hours). But anyway, if you don't mind paying for them I guarantee they are really good quality and the optics are amazing. The prices are fair and in the midrange.
