I'm new to this site and already need some advice. I'm looking to buy a new rifle and thinking about the Model 700 VTR in 22-250. I can't find anybody that owns one to see how accurate it is. I own several Model 700's in different calibers and they all shoot great. I'm just curious about the triangular shaped barrel. This will be mainly used on coyotes. Thanks in advance for any input, positive or negative.

I had one for about 2 months and sold it. For the weight and the money, I'd rather have a Rem 700 or my Encore. The 22-250 is a fine round, but I would recommend a .223 or .204. Ammo is cheaper, less recoil, less noise, easy to reload
Have a Remington 700 SPS 22 250 and love it. Very accurate.

If you're looking for a dedicated calling rifle then look for a short, light rifle in a 222, 223 or 204. Nothing wrong with a 22-250 (I have one and love it) but for calling the aforementioned calibers are plenty. Most people go overboard on cartridge selection and scope power.. ..I know because I've been there. Learn from my mistakes, get yourself a rilfe that is 6.5-8 lbs, roughly 40-42" long and a scope that is in the 3-9 or 4-12 range of power with no more than a 44mm objective lense.
I can count on one hand how many coyotes I've shot that were over 150 yards. The majority were 50-80 yards.
Remember....short/light = good for calling.
If you have a "calling" rifle that is so heavy that it requires the use of bipods, then you are setting yourself up for failure.
