So the AK-47. Used by just about every nation in the world except for the U.S. But with that, it's also used by every movie villain and bad guy since it's inception. Personally, I love the AK-47. It's easy to field strip, easy to maintain. It will fire requardless of what you do to it. Mud, muck, water, dirt, grit, grim, doesn't matter. So, as I sat around the house, bored onw night and cleaning a few firearms, for some reason the urge to piss the extreme liberals world wide off hit me. So I decided to build a Movie prop "bad guy gun".

I started off with an Egyptian made AK-47. Apparently these are harder to find in the states then some of the other AK's. I've heard all kinds of reasons for this, everything from they dont export that many to people grab them up as soon as they hit the states and all kinds of other reasons. I personally have no idea why they're harder to find, so I'm not going to guess. All I know is I got the rifle for a couple hundred dollars in a deal with a buddy of mine that decided he wanted to paint it Desert Camo (No idea why, but ok).

So I had a base weapon to start with.

So In a effort to make the ultimate in Terrorist Weapon, I tore into the AK. All the old paint stripped and all the old furniture removed, I was left with a bare reciever, barrel, gas block. So I was thinking about which way I really wanted to take this rifle and I decided I was going to roll with an AK that was going to send all the Liberals into an angry frenzy.

So the AK had to be black, have a pistol grip, a folding stock and the ability to attach all kinds of movie prop looking accessories.

So I dug through my parts bin (yes I have a parts bin for firearms) to see what I had laying around. Things I had laying around included a Tapco Saw Style Pistol Grip, A Tapco Folding AK stock, Tapco Trigger group.

So the TapCo trigger group is the first thing I installed. Us made trigger groups are better than original trigger groups, giving you the adjustibility that I personally like. It's pretty straight forward. Remove old part, insert new Kinda thing. If you need an actual step by step on this, I can happily post it for you, but right now I'll spare you.

While Inside the rifle, nows the time to attache the grip (as you have to align the grip, screw and bolt guide all at the same time). This is also pretty straight forward and only takes a few min.

On to the stock. With the reciever cover off and the spring removed, the new stock slides in place. The TapCo stock is composite plastic, and using the supplied drill bit, you'll line it up with the existing mounting points, drill center of teh hole about 3/4". NOw using the supplied self tapping screws, attach. Easy. The thing I really like about the stock, is that even when it's folded up, you can still operate the rifle with no problems. Perfect for when that ass cuts you off in traffic.

So for the foregrip furniture, I'm using a UTG quad rail system.

This to is pretty easy to attach. Using the existing furniture mounts for the foregrip, this thing is a two piece aircraft grade aluminium quad rail system. slide on the lower half, slide on the upper half, tighten down the 4 hex srews, and bam! Your done.

So I want to mount optics to this crazy contraption I'm making. Now you can find all kinds of crazyness out there. Mounts that bolt tot he reciever, mounts that require drilling, blah blah blah. Well I believe in keeping it as simple as possible. So I went with a LEaper Optic mount. 2 Screws and it's in place and not going any where.

So after it's all said and done, I tossed a coat of matte black primer on it, and I'm going to Duracoat it this weekend, but heres some pictures I took with my phone (not the best quality), to give you the general Idea of how it looks. I have some Polymer Magizines for it as well, but the camo mag lets you see the color the rifle started out as.

And to give it that "That has to be a weapon that a normal person shouldn't have" look, I went ahead a tossed one of my Night Vision Scopes on it for S&G.

So there you go, not too bad for somethign I tossed togeather with extra parts I had laying around and a few hours work. What do you guys think?

I am not really into the Tapco stuff or rails but it doesn't look bad at all. I would reconsider refinishing it or doing any alterations to it since it is a Maadi. They stopped importing them about 10 years ago and are continuing to go up in value. If it had the regular stock (not the thumbhole type) the stock set alone is worth about $200.

I've got all the original Furniture for it still, But I've got another of the same Egyptian made AK's thats bone stock, just hanging out. This was just something I wanted to tinker with. I Didn't buy this one to collect as it was already alittle beat up, I've other firearms for that. I got this one, cause it shot well and it was cheap.

But thank you for the information and the possitive feed back. ANy Idea why they stopped importing them?

They stopped importing them and many other firearms when the laws changed.
