If you are just getting by, and many are right now, there is a way to fish for free anywhere in the state.

Go to your county's social services and ask for a Subsistence Fishing License. Ask for the fresh & saltwater license. It's free and takes about 20 minutes. All you need is a drivers license for an ID. No forms, no applications, and no financial info is needed. They take your word that you need it.

I think it's a good thing and I like the idea; let me fish and I won't need the stamps.

Thought this might help

That sounds like a good deal for really poor people. I'm not THAT poor yet though, so I'll go ahead and pay for my licenses. Even though the WRC makes some bonehead moves and is pretty unresponsive to a lot of us out there, I still like the idea of where that tax is going, and make no mistake about it, licensing fees are taxes. It's good information though. The way the economy, inflation, and taxes are going I might need one in the future. Thanks.

Well, some people would say that I'm elderly.
