I am looking at possibly buying a PSE DeerHunter with a 70# draw weight. Before I make the purchase I would like some feedback from some seasoned bow hunters. I have fell in love with the mathews DXT, but the funds just aren't available, and I can get this bow pretty cheap. Any advice/feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Gunner,

The only major differences in the newer high dollar bows are that they are composite limbs, short axis, cam/let off, and built in dampeners. My first bow was a PSE Thunderflite and it was the demise of many deer in the 1990's. The one you are referring to will get the job done and is just as accurate as an $1100 Matthews.

Thanks doghunter, hopefully this bow will be as good to me as your PSE was to you. I appreciate your prompt response to my question. Your knowledge has gone a long way on this site. I dont post alot on here but I do read alot on here and the advice from you and other members is more than helpful. Thanks again.

PSE bows, as a general rule are pretty quality. Although, I am unfamiliar with the deerhunter bow in particular, I can honestly say, "if it's PSE it's good for me" I concur with doghunter. If you need bow assistance, tuning, setup, etc., feel free to pm me. I can do pretty much all there is to be done to tune a bow up and get you ready to go. After that...it's all you. I go by a philosophy on bows, it's not the equipment, so much, as the man who uses it. Same applies to many things. Some say, a man is only as good as his rifle...I say, a rifle is only as good as it's shooter. But, that's for another thread.....

I didn't get the PSE, unfortunately somebody beat me to it. I ended up getting an Alpine Archery bow. It has adjustable draw length from 21"-28" and a 50lb. pull. It wll do for this season, hopefully next season I will be able to get the Mathews Monster that I've been wanting and I can pass this bow down to my younger brother. Thank you all for the advice. I really wish the PSE would have worked out.

PSE = Point Shoot Explode

I bought my PSE in 2003 I had it a week and it exploded. I exchanged it and had no trouble with it. Served me well for 6 seasons. Last year I bought a new Hoyt Alpha Max, it blows the PSE out of the water.
