Load lighter..or get a better, more forgiving set of grips.....OR shoot a 500 S&W a few times and a .44 Magnum will be a blessing..LOL. I have both calibers and I am being honest...

the .44 mag can be a manageable load. depends on what rounds you put through the tube. .357 mag can get up there in some nearly unmanageable stuff. It's finding a round that you can live with shooting. Try a .454 Casull sometime..... don't work out to good for a fella with skinny arms :) I found out the hard way. lol...

I bet somebody here has a .44 mag and will bring it to the forum shoot and let you shoot it, so you can make your decision. I don't have one or I'd bring it. I'm not ballistics expert, but a buddy of mine told me that .45 Long Colt +P's had the same foot/pounds of energy as a .44 mag without that concussion when you shot it, so I bought a ruger Vaquero .45. It wasn't bad at all to shoot with +P's, but the Vaquero is the only revolver I've ever heard of that can handle +P .45. I sold it, because I'm an idiot, so I can't bring it to the forum shoot. That being said, like Manxcat said, a lot depends on the load.

i have a s&w 44 mag and love it,but it is a "mans"gun!shooting the 240gr ammo the recoil is a lil surprising to someone who has not shot one.i want to get some of the 180gr loads for it but have not been able to find any, knowing bullet speed will be faster and less recoil with the lighter ammo.your welcome to shoot mine if you want and try it,i'd like to shoot your .357.

The .44 Mag is completely manageable with the right ammo and the right techniques. I think you'll be fine!

Cheaper Than Dirt and other online retailers have some decent ammo prices but they charge almost $14 shipping on one box of ammo!
