One of the things I noticed when I read the entire text of the newly proposed regs was something that should be of interest to all of us. Urban communities that request depredation permits from now on will have to answer an additional question that could turn out to be a gold nugget for us. That question is.....does your community participate in the urban archery season that rubs for 5-6 weeks in January & February ?? If the community representative answers "NO" they will have to explain a reason why not. This could potentially lead to additional bowhunting opportunities for us, because I truly believe that the vast majority of folks are unaware of this program. So now a few are shaking their heads and saying......so what.....I don't bowhunt !!!!!!!! Well.......follow this logic......let's encourage the State to question the landowners/farmers in the same fashion when THEY apply for depredation permits. If the state can have the opportunity to discuss the benefits of allowing hunting access to their lands and address the landowner's potential concerns.......see where this leads.......we could all benefit. If you see the potential as I do here, I encourage you to call in this suggestion and tell all of your friends to do the same. Who knows............nothing ventured, nothing gained.
