This is terrible guys. Hopefully we all follow the practice of verifying what we are shooting at and what may be behind what we are shooting! Read this.

Sad story. Completely avoidable regardless of any other circumstances. Even given the "benefit-of-the-doubt", to my eye, it is still negligent on the part of the shooter.
Hopefully, a thorough investigation can conclude quickly and we can get a final answer on whether charges will end up being filed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his young family.

Absolutely. Snap shooting and the like is no good unless you are somewhere that you can see everything around you and behind you and what you're shooting at.

sounds a little fishy to me and hope they investigate it from every angle

I have a feeling that a charge will be filed. Whether it is with the criminal courts or a civil lawsuit. The family will ensure this will happen. Negligance being the main reason.

I still don't understand how things like this happen. I have not nor ever will shoot at movement. Yet I constantly hear about things like this. This is why I don't really do much small game hunting before the deer season is over. I know there are hunters around our land and I don't feel safe even with blaze orange on. Apparently for some reason hunters tend to forget that a gun is a deadly weapon and that bullets don't stop when they get to their target.

That is awful. The shooter either because of complacency or sheer lack of caring, should be persecuted to the highest extent of the law.
