Years ago, where the Home Depot in jax is now, there used to be a flea market every weekend, and another huge one up towards Greenville. Anyone know if that one, or any others still go on?

The one between Greenville and Washington on 264 is still open on Saturdays. Last time I went most of the stuff there was junk, but you could find a few booths with decent stuff in it. There is also the livestock Auction on Hwy. 11 between Greenville and Kinston, I'm not sure when it's open, but I want to say on Thursdays. I've never been there but I've driven by it and seen some booths there when it's going on.

If you are ever up near Belhaven Thurs - Sat there is a place right on the curve in Pantego that's got lots of good stuff in there, or there was. I bought an iron welding table, anvil, and a bunch of other stuff there. The guy that runs it is named Craig. He's a good guy and sells stuff there really cheap, because he wants to keep customers coming back. I bought a bass boat and trailer for fifty bucks from him. (no it wasn't stolen) Not pretty but it floats and will be my duck boat next season. I also bought a pair of firefighter boots in great shape from him for two bucks one time. If you ever are up this way at the end of a week, it's a good place to poke around.

I love a good flea market. Except that when the lil woman goes, I end up with someone else's junk. Buddy of mine years ago went to a swap meet back home, found a guy selling a 1903 Springfield, picked it up for maybe 20 bucks, the bolt was frozen shut. Other than that it was in great shape. Soaked the action in diesel fuel for a few days and applied a little elbow grease, and got the action working like a charm. Had the local gunsmith give it a once over, hunted with that rifle clear up til we lost touch in 92. I'll bet to this day, he still hunts with that gun. Good ol Springfield 30-06. Take a look these days what people are buying and selling the '03's for. Not $20.00 to be sure.

That sound like the Jaycee fairgrounds. Big steel building with a little fenced in field? When there's not something like a gunshow or arts and crafts show or something there on weekends, they sometimes have estate auctions there, but to my knowledge, no swap meets or anything like that. There's usually one on the corner of Neuse Blvd and Glenburnie Rd in New Bern, but all I have ever seen there is art and bootleg clothing.
