Robbie Norville the district biologist is coming out to my lease on Friday to do a mini deer study to determine herd densities. I'm trying to establish our quota for does next season.

The age of our pine forest is causing a lack of browse. We still have plenty of deer but need to plant some supplemental food plots and just mow some ditch banks to generate some new growth!

1 doe per 100 acres.that number seems low to me,maybe you do not have the population there like i thought was there.i thought it would be about 3 or 4 per 100acres which would put you around 50 for the season.

75 deer per 2 square miles is what you need and that's about what I have there. The key is getting the ratio where you want it. 4 deer per acre is way to dense a popluation!

ratio=about 6-8 bucks for every doe is what i'd like to see somewheres that i hunt!never happen though, nobody wants to shoot does for some reason, they rather shoot a 15" 8 point that is 2 1/2 years old.
