well my preparations yesterday were somewhat a waste of time,so to speak.i made sure the gas/propane heater was hooked up and running, cranked the generator and let it run for awhile, made sure we had plenty of drinking water and beverages, gas in the trucks,so on and so forth.OVERALLY PREPARED!as usual.better safe than sorry i guess.
anyway, everything is good here i guess.we got about 5" best i can figure and it was quite a pretty site this mornin when i walked outside.seems to be melting pretty fast,i guess it will just add to the "mess" we have from all the rain.

snow is holding on the ground pretty well here. Built a snowman at 1 am. By 9 am, the little neighborhood brats had destroyed it.

I live in South Creek, just off 17, south of New River Air Station. I had an average of 7 3/4" throught the yard. Got to teach my little ones how to build a snowman. First one I made since before I joined the Corps over 14 years ago. I'm a midwest boy and miss the stuff.

Yeah...I was livid. My daughter and I built the snowman last night and the nasty little neigborhood monsters destroyed it. Some peoples kids, I swear....where are the parents?

Sorry to hear about the snow man Manxx. Just be careful and use a snow ghillie, the parents only come out when they want to sue. That snow man built by Whisikey is pretty impressive though. I'm from florida originally so im still new to the whole snow thing.

Super Snowman, Whiskey! Your snow must've been a bit drier, too. We built a couple with the Grandkids here; rolling the snow picked up EVERYTHING off the lawn; sticks, needles, pinecones, EVERYTHING! Funny. We had one 6'er, but it collapsed before sundown!! lol

We may have had 6" on the ground at dawn, but it had to have started dropping right then. Only about an inch left at sundown!

Thanks for the compliment Fmrleatherneck. Actually, the snow was fairly wet and it did pick up everything laying on the ground. Once, I got it put together, I had to fill in a lot of holes, so it covered most of it up. I just hope I don't have the same issue Manxxcatt did with the neighborhood kids. I think it would crush my girls and cause me to set up a hide with a bb gun waiting for them to come back. Then again, the way things are nowadays, I don't feel like dealing with a lawsuit. Times have definately changed. Back when I was younger and a whole lot dumber, I came home one night with my backside peppered with rocksalt thanks to a fellow that caught me and a couple buddies cow tippin in his pasture. Once I got home and my Dad asked what happened, he shook his head and said "I bet you don't do anything like that again." After a few more words of wisdom and some fatherly correction, he called the guy and apologized for my behavior. In the morning, he drove me to the farmers house and I apologized in person and then spent the next couple weeks working in his hay fields for free. Needless to say, I learned my leasson.

TOO TRUE, WhiskeyTango!! Times have sure changed!

Hope your girls get to play with that guy 'til he melts back into the lawn! (Probably happen today!)

Glad you guys had some fun with the snowmen! Our daughter is grown and has a child of her own so we are out of the snowman business. With the shape my back is in, I'm better suited for snow angels! This is my grandson Carter admiring his first snow.

He's just learning to walk so they had to prop him. Otherwise, he'd been making snow angels face down!:cool0013:

I'm with ya on the back thing fellas.... rolled out the first snowball, went to lift the second one on, just about didn't make it. Considered making a snowman taking a nap.
