when i was a young boy i can tell you that every hunting season while i was still to young to hunt ,my dad religously would be up and out before daylight in the crisp cold mountain air in upstate ny.He told us storys many times of this big record size buck that looked more like a moose that would comb the mountainside and swamps on our mountain.he would always come home so often telling us kids how smart and cunning this animal was and that it seemed no matter how long he sat in the woods or what he did this deer would out smart him,he even gave the nickname"old george" to the deer!!!well yrs gone by where my dad would spot old george every so often!!!then one day a yr before i was able to hunt it was snowing so hard the wind blowing my dad came bursting thru the door telling us how he had seen old george again and that it was snowing so hard that when he went to whip his face off he looked backup the mountain side and he said it was like a blink of the eye that that deer vanished never to be seen again. i was siotting there wondering if it was all a story that my dad was making up just to keep us interested!!!lol!!!he went on ranting and raving about how that deer must of been about 240 pounds and that he had a rack the size of a moose and how it was an 8+ easily!!!i sat there saying he,s joking!!!!!well the next season i was finnally able to go hunting it was like the third time me being in the woods with my dad so we set out that mourning and he decided that we should hunt a ridge along the mountain swamp as we start down the trail overlooking the swamp we were taking our timeout of nowhere in the thick of the swamp this huge monsterous deer got up hauling but and crashing thru the thick of the swamp running away from us and we had no shot he was atleast 150yrds from us so with shotguns we were useless!!!my dad and i sat there and looked at each other just in awe of what took place in disbeleif of how big and beautifull that deer was!!! i looked at my dad and i said well atleast you werent telling us a story!!!!he looked back at me shacking his head and laughed!!!we ended up moving that yr and never saw old goerge again but i can tell you that one of my freinds said that next year there was a deer takin on that mountain it weighed 242 pound and had 11 points just shy of 12 and placed the top 5 in deer taken in ny!!!!!
