I like all rifles but there is something special about a lever action to me. Maybe I watched too many westerns on tv in the late 60's and early 70's. My lever gun collection includes a Marlin 336 in 30-30, Marlin 1894 in .44 Magnum, and a Henry in .22 . I took the first shot of my life at a coyote with the 1894. The 30-30 is my main deer rifle and I have carried it while coyote hunting now that I have it scoped. The Henry is my squirrel rifle, plinking and my woods walking rifle. My next lever rifle will be a Browning BLR in .243

Started playing Cowboys about two years ago. Already had a Win 94 in 357 and a BLR .22 and a pre 64 Win 94 30-30. Now I have a real excuse to get more. I have a Marlin 1894CBC .38 and a Puma 1892 in .357. Next is going to be either a 1873 or a 1866 in .38/357. I had a scope on the .357 94 and killed several deer with it before the Cowboy days. Warning,,,,,Cowboy Action Shooting is addictive.
You heard that from the "Grapevine"

I also wouldn't mind getting a Browning BLR in 7mm WSM. That round shoots great. Buddy of mine back home has one. Not as popular as the 7mm Rem Mag so the price of the ammo is very high compared to the 7mm Rem Mag.

I have the Marlin 336 in 30-30. It is my best deer gun. I think in the lands of eastern NC it works best for hunting the thick brush we so often run into. Open sights on this one for me. I like to think of it as a sort of "leveling" of the playing field.

You oughta get that mod. 39 appraised. I've got one as collateral for a loan that I am going to hate to give up. Some of them run from 800 to 1200 and even higher. Supposedly they are considered one of the best .22 rifles ever made.

This friend came to me about year ago and offered it to me for 100 bucks. He needed cash right away. Bought it with idea of selling it back to him if and when he wanted it back. He died almost one month after he sold it to me. Strange how things work out. It belonged to his uncle who bought it new. I took it by a gunshop locally and their estimated value was 450. Guess its worth a bit more than that. Thought about giving it to his son but he's of the type that breaks in to homes etc for his habits. Hold on to it for now.

I'm sorry about your friend but it looks like you got a really good gun there. It's a shame that your friends son is doing what he's doing but I imagine your buddy would have wanted you to keep the gun in that case.
