Hey guys, just wanted to let you all know I took the plunge and ordered my first reloading press tonight! It is my first step into the reloading hobby. I can't wait. I won't have all of the stuff when I get my kit but it should be a good portion of it. I ordered the Lee Turret press kit tonight. I'm extremely excited about this. I want to thank all of you guys for pushing me in the right direction. I think this kit will work for me, at least for a while. Thanks again. Any input is appreciated. I got it from Midway USA. Here's the link.

Let me know of any suggestions you all have! I appreciate it.

Congrats man. That's the setup I started with MANY years ago. Can't go wrong with Lee. Only big issues I faced with starting out was that it was WAAAyyy too fun to reload, so on those cold winter evenings and you are indoors? You tend to reload a bunch more than you might shoot in a few range sessions.....especially in the beginning. My only two suggestions is to get you a good reloading manual (Lyman makes a good one) or two or three. Study it over and over again. And the second? Is to keep great records. I have a binder for each cal I reload with data that worked and data that didn't... along with the targets to prove it. Included in that data is the Type, make, and lot numbers of your primers, powder, and bullets. Start low and work up paying attention to any overpressure signs.

So Brent, what other stuff did you get with the press kit?

I got some reloading trays for .308, .30-30 and .45ACP, still need to get the dies, powder, bullets, and I have lots of brass that I have been saving up for quite some time. Renegade, I have a Lyman 48th edition. I know they have a 49th edition but I think for my use the 48th will do. I will then buy a few more. Just picked up the Hodgden annual magazine. Great info.

Always buy carbide dies for the handguns. Find the online stores like Midway, Natchez, or what have you for the best deals on dies, etc. Do not forget our own Mom n Pop stores here in the area coz they have stuff as well. I know it can be a tad more expensive, but shipping has to be added into the fray. PLUS, if we all patronize our local stores even a little bit, when we need them they will be there. "Ya got 48 outta 50 rounds of 45ACP and ya just gotta have that 50th one....." If you don't shoot alot or you buy small quantities it can pay to buy local, but look around online. I say this because I have found local prices, at times, to be more expensive that online including the shipping. But the guys at Eastern are trying and trying hard. Flatwoods up on Riggs Road has or had some good stuff for a long time. (Most people do not reload and so is not a big sales draw, plus you can buy in quanitity on line and save exhorbitant amounts of money this way) As I have said over and over and over again.... www.shootersproshop.com is a great place for seconds.

I got the Lyman 48th edition as well. Works great. I think I saw the scale and powder measure came with the kit. Do you get a setof dial calipers, brass/media tumbler, brass trimmer, brass mouth reamer, etc.? There are a lot of reloading sites on line as I am sure you know. But Nosler has some of their reloading book online. At least some loads anyway. Just go slow in the beginning. Pay attention and post back here your results.
