as most of you know we have been going around and around talking about ammo lately and i am just wondering something?out of the "cheap low end ammo" what is your preferrence and why?i'm going to post three bullets {cheap $20 or less a box of 20 rounds} and you tell me which one and why.................here we go again! i am only using the .308 win for this poll and pricing,if you shoot a 270,pick which bullet in the 270 you would shoot out of the three i have listed.same with the 30/06,243 whatever.this is the only three bullet choices you have.pricing is from a natchez book.

Federal because I believe the hy shock is a speer product bullet. Excellent bullet company. Others are proprietary bullets from their ammo manufacturers.

#1-i've come to like the federal ammo in the last couple years, mainly because of my .308 handy rifle.shot win and rem bullets and they did not give me any kind of group, the federals shot a 1" 3 shot group at 100yds and about a 3"group at 210yds.good enough for where i am going to be hunting with this rifle.
#2-i've never seen the core lokt bullets group in any one rifle i ever shot them out of.
#3-the win bullets use to shoot good out of my .243 and now they do not group worth a darn.shot the 150gr and 180gr out of my .308 handy rifle and you could hear the difference from one shot to another.same as the .44rem mag ammo for my pistol and the .22lr ammo isn't worth buying any more either.shot over a thousand rounds of .22lr last weekend and had more misfires and duds out of the new wildcats than i can ever remember having in the past.

If I only had a choice of the three, I picked the Remington. I have seen more deer killed with this bullet then any other bullet. I personally reload and I don’t buy much ammunition. Second would be the Winchester only due to Federal brass sucks its to soft.

Speer and Federal are owned by the same company ATK.

They also own Alliant Powder Company and build the solid rocket boosters for the Space Shuttle. They ought to know a little something about launching a bullet! Wonder where they get their powder?

hmmm... I've been using the 150gr PowerShok in 30-30... is that Speer bullet? I didn't know.

I'm satisfied - seems to work fine.

well... I don't have a 308. I've never even shot a 308 - well, an M-14 while in the Navy, but they called it 7.62 NATO there...

thats why i said whatever rifle you are shooting,270 30-06 30-30 and such, these are the only three brands of ammo you can choose from.and then why you chose it.in your case i would think it would be the fed and the reason would be maybe the way they shoot out of your 30-30 and the deer you have killed with them

pretty much the same thing. Higher pressure thats all. It's loaded to NATO standards and .308 is SAAMI standards.

i only used the 308 for a comparison for the bullets and pricing to give you a better idea.if you are using a 30-30 there's your 3 choices of ammo in the 30-30 not 308,see what i mean.
