Pretty good year, volume-wise. I spent a lot of time afield for the result, though - I'm not working now, hope that'll change soon.
I got... two does, three spikes/cowhorns, and one magnificent 8pt, and (stop right there). One doe taken with muzzleloader, the rest with Marlin 336. Also, two beavers that irritated me; one was heavier than some little deer I wish I'd not shot in the past.
The freezer(s) is full; I won't be buying any beef before next deer season, and I need a meat grinder - anyone got one forsale or loan? :):):)

i'd grind it for ya,but it is a long way for ya to drive.ever try to eat the beaver?that is one good eatin critter rite there, seriously.just don't want the beaver over 25lbs,they get a lil tuff.

I regret to say, no, I didn't eat the beaver. the first one sank; the 2nd I recovered. That thing... must have weighed fifty pounds. I could not lift it with one hand. I didn't know they were that big a critter.
next time I shoot one, I'll sample it - another guy told me they're excellent backstraps. Wishing now I'd dragged the one I shot home. Incidentally... I shot it two days before I got the big deer, and from the same tree, right next to creek. Here's the view down from that tree:

Not fair for me to take a pick in the poll, 'cause it's been MY FIRST SEASON IN 9 YEARS, which is what made it a GREAT SEASON for me! (Not so much "venison in the freezer"...)
Tough for me to pick an available option!

first year in 9 years would probably go under o.k. i guess or best year ever i would think.you decide and let us know.

On second thought: Measured by "deer in the freezer"; def NOT my "best year ever", but you're right, buckhunter, has to be one of my "best year ever" years considering my experiences!!

Good year for me. I hunted here in NC and MI. 4pt in MI Opening night rifle. Spike with bow on base. 5pt, spike, and doe with shotgun on base. 6pt black powder on base. This was my first year hunting in NC so I hope to better it next year.

not the best yr for me as far as the meat i put down but as far as the experience it was the best ive had . i got hooked up with some old friends and made some new ones . but the highlight was i got a 13 yr old boy chompin at the bit to get me to take him out with us . he wants to hunt and dont care what it is ... guess im goin to have to get into yotes to give him something to keep him goin

My year was a total waste. I'd have better spent it cutting my toenails, or some other menial task.
