have any of you fished for these little fighters, i fish for them when it gets hot and the yellow flies are bad. I find them in the small blackwater creeks around cumberland,bladen and robinson counties. for their size they fight harder than a big bass. use a small casting rig with a red spinner about 1/8 size close to the bank and if they are around they will take it.they will also take live minnows but i prefer the light rod and reel

are you referring to redfin pike or raccoon perch? I've caught both over the years.

red fin pike at least you can scale them have caught some of the racoon perch but scalling them is next to impossible
